On an original 1950s or 60s house, the entry is often a wide slab or a panelled door in good timber, frequently painted over at some point. Stripping that back is the single change that makes the whole front of the house read correctly again, because the proportions were designed around a wood door, not a painted one.
On a new build the door is large, recently installed, and the finish is factory-thin. Those are quick and worth doing early — before the first Houston summer gets into the top edge and the whole thing needs stripping instead of recoating.
