West U is close quarters. Narrow lots, cars on both sides, and neighbours a few feet away. We set up compactly, work on a covered stand on the driveway, and keep dust contained — no spray drifting onto the car next door.
Most of the doors we are called to here are good ones: solid hardwood entries on renovated older homes, sometimes with leaded or beveled glass worth protecting. Glass gets masked and taped before anything touches the wood.
The common failure is the bottom third of the door, where rain bounces up off the step and sits against the timber. It greys and softens there long before the top of the door looks bad, which is why people are often surprised when we point it out.
