Door Refinishing in Spring
Spring has a lot of houses from the seventies and eighties in wooded subdivisions, and the doors on them have usually been refinished at least once before — sometimes well, sometimes not.
Previous work changes the job. Old finish that was applied over a dirty or damp surface comes off in sheets; a door that was painted rather than stained needs stripping back further. We strip to bare wood rather than coating over whatever is there, because a new finish is only as sound as the layer under it.
The partial shade here also means the same mildew and moisture issues you get further north in Kingwood and The Woodlands, so the finish we choose seals against water rather than only blocking sun.
