Door Refinishing in Magnolia
Magnolia is largely acreage among the pines, and the houses reflect it: custom built, set back from the road, and carrying a lot more exterior woodwork than a subdivision home. Double entries, porches, railings, sometimes cedar or cypress detailing.
Good cedar and cypress is the thing we most often find painted out here, and stripping paint off timber like that is a bigger job than a straight refinish. It is also not comparable in result — you cannot buy that wood cheaply any more, and covering it with paint is throwing away the reason it was specified.
The pines bring the same damp we deal with in The Woodlands: slow drying, mildew in the grain, and end grain at the top and bottom of the door taking on water. That gets sealed as part of the work.
