The failure usually starts at the top. The upper edge of a door is end grain, it is the part nobody ever looks at, and on most doors it was never sealed properly to begin with. Water sits there, wicks down into the panel, and the finish starts lifting from above.
We take the doors off, seal the top and bottom edges properly as part of the job, and put them back the same visit. You are not left with a hole in the front of the house or a sheet of plywood over the entry.
